The exquisitely crafted Emerald belt will go to the winner of the ?Fight of the Century? between undefeated pound for pound No.1 Floyd Mayweather Jr and eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao in their May 2 showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The WBC website reported that ?after an intense voting week, fans have ruled that the winner of the megafight between Mayweather and Pacquiao will triumphantly hold aloft the Emerald belt.
Regarded as an exquisite masterpiece specially designed by the World Boxing Council headed by its president Mauricio Sulaiman for a unique bout that is already gracing the pages of boxing history in order to appropriately recognize the winner of what the WBC described as a ?titanic and epic event on May 2, emeralds have triumphed.?
The WBC said it was a very close decision as the emerald belt won by a margin of 53% to 47% for the onyx belt.
The WBC said it was ?very grateful to the multitude of fans that participated in the process, voting on the WBC web page to choose thehistoruc belt Mayweather or Pacquiao will proudly possess.
