JOHH Vincent ?Mulawin? Moralde of Davao City is now the new World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia Boxing Council Continental featherweight champion.

Moralde, also current World Boxing Federation (WBF) International super bantamweight champion, won the vacant title by a convincing unanimous decision against a formerly undefeated Brayd ?The Great White? Smith of Australia last March 14 at the Rumours International in Toowomba, Queensland, Australia.
?Moralde took the Australian boxer to school from the first up to the last round,? said boxing manager Jim Claude Manangquil in his text message.

Judge Phil Austin scored it 99-91, while judges Cyril Cairns and Adrian Cairns saw it 98-92 and 97-93, respectively.

?Moralde taught his opponent a boxing lesson. Bawat suntok niya tinatamaan talaga ang kalaban,? Mananquil said.

The 20-year old Moralde improved his ring record to 12 wins with 6 knockouts and no loss or draw while Smith also suffered his first loss with 12 wins and 10 knockouts.

Moralde, a former amateur boxer standout from Davao City is now managed by the Sanman Promotions in General Santos City.

He previously took the WBF bantamweight title by a unanimous decision against Jason Butar-Butar of Indonesia last Sept. 13 at Lagao gym in General Santos City.

The 5-foot-7 Moralde also stopped Ronerex Dalut by a second round knockout for the Philippine Boxing Federation super bantamweight title last July 2 at the Bula Gym in Gensan. ? LITO DELOS REYES
