The co-manager of Philippine minimum weight champion Florante Condes, nicknamed "The Lion from Manila" says his mandatory title fight against champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia will go ahead as scheduled on June 16 at the Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta.
In an email to Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, American Dante Ortiz said Rachman’s manager Martinez dos Santos handlers of Rachmann didn’t know what he was talking about when the claimed they had not received a copy of a contract signed by Condes and indicated they were looking for another possible opponent.
Ortiz said that the promoter of the fight is Warriors Promotions which won the purse bid and that "the contract Rachman’s people need to see is the one from the promoter."
Ortiz said that as the co-manager of Condes along with Filipino Aljoe Jaro he had "confirmed to the IBF and Warriors Boxing Promotions that without a doubt Condes wants to fight Rachman."
The problem was also cleared up by Indonesian promoter Ndondo "Aseng Jr" Sugiarto who reportedly took over the fight from Warriors Boxing told the Fight News correspondent in Jakarta that everything had been cleared up and the fight will go on. Santos himself said "I’m happy if everything is clear and now Rachman can start concentrating on the fight."
