A former sparring partner of eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao, super welterweight Glen Tapia, has scored a brutal 3rd round TKO over Australian veteran Daniel Dawson to win the North American Boxing Organization title at the classy Cotai Arena in Macau on Saturday.

Tapia nailed Dawson with a flurry of unanswered punches before referee Mark Nelson stepped in and called a halt at 1:42 of the third round.

Tapia who experienced his first loss when he suffered a devastating knockout against James Kirkland on December 7, 2013 decided to replace his trainer and move to the Wild Card Gym of seven-time ?Trainer of the Year? award winner Freddie Roach.
Tapia whose career is certain to be enhanced since he signed up with Topm Rank promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank showed how quickly he has honed his skills as a boxer and not just a puncher.

In an effort to regain his stature Tapia traveled halfway around the world to prove that he has overcome his technical knockout loss to Kirkland.

The 37 year old Dawson was considered the toughest test for Tapia in his three fights since the Kirkland stopped him in the sixth round in December 2013.
