
YANIG SA T?BOLI: Tabugon, Purisima make weight

DAVAO CITY (PNA) March 7 -- Reigning International Boxing Organization (IBO) Inter-continental light-flyweight champion Raymund ?Tornado? Tabugon and Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight champion Juan ?Punisher? Purisima submitted contrasting weights today (March 7) for their fight tomorrow (March 8) at the T?boli Municipal Gym in T?boli, South Cotabato.
Tabugon tipped the scales at 115 lbs. while Purisima only submitted 112 lbs. during official weigh-in held at Jams Restaurant In General Santos City.
?There catch weight, however, is from 114-115. Maliit lang talaga si Purisima,? said promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions.
The official weigh-in was conducted by Kenneth Improso of the Games and Amusements Board Davao field office.
The Tabugon-Purisima 10-rounder is the main event of the 1st Mayor Dibu Tuan ?Yanig sa T?boli? boxing card to be presented by the Sanman Promotions in coordination with the municipality of T?boli.
The 23-year old Tabugon, also World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Boxing Council Continental flyweight title-holder, has a fight record of 15 wins with 6 knockouts, 3 loses and one draw.
Tabugon, a native of Gingoog City, last saw action on December 12 when he beat Luzuko Sivo by a unanimous decision for the IBO Intercontinental light flyweight title at the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
After winning the WBC Abco flyweight crown, the 5-foot-5 Tabugon then stopped Kaichon Sor Vorapin by a technical knockout in the second round at the Polomolok Gym last October 9.
Purisima, a native of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, has 11 wins, 4 KOs, 6 loses and 1 draw. The 5-foot-4 Purisima, however, lost in his last three fights. Purisima was TKO?d in the second round by world-rated Froilan Saludar in Cagayan de Oro last Oct. 4 after losing to undefeated Roman Gonzales by a 3rd round TKO in Tokyo, Japan last April 6.
Purisima also bowed to Artem Dalakian by a unanimous decision in their WBA International flyweight championship fight at Donbass Arena, Donetsk, Ukraine on August 24, 2013.
Purisima?s last victory was a 5th round TKO over Renren Tesorio for the vacant PBF flyweight crown last July 1, 2013 at Mandaluyong Gym.
Pitted in the main supporting event is the non-title fight between WBF Asia Pacific flyweight and WBF International light flyweight champion Jetter Oliva of General Santos City against Amiro Ricablanca of Agusan Province (8 rds.-112 lbs.).
The undercard will also feature Markquil Salva?a versus Tata Fontanilla (8 rds.-122 lbs.), Adam Diu Abdulhamid vs. Jesae Ancajas (8 rds.-140 lbs.), Reymart Gaballo vs. Michael Padayag (6 rds.-118 lbs.), Benny Jade Slight vs. Sonny Basa?ez (4 rds.-140 lbs.), Mike Angelo Plania vs. Paolo Perono (6 rds.-118 lbs.).
