Ricky Hatton.

World Boxing Council president Mauricio Sulaiman has met with former two division world champion Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton to coordinate a psychological support program for former and active boxers fighting depression.

Hatton who was popular because of his two-fisted attacking style, suffered two losses to the two greatest fighters in the world ? undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr and eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

The WBC said Hatton is ?beloved and adored by fight fans in Manchester, Britain and the World over: "there's only one Ricky Hatton!"

However, the WBC reported that Hatton?s ?most challenging dig deep fight ...was battling depression. He mistakenly thought he'd let his family and his fans down, with these defeats instead of realizing that he'd given his absolute all, his magnificent legacy is forever secure AND he's a Champion forever!!!?

His depression began after he was battered and knocked out by Pacquiao in the 2nd round of his IBO light welterweight title defense in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 2, 2009.

The WBC website notes that ?with help Ricky is now a successful gym owner, trainer and boxing manager, who has fought back and triumphed. And typically he wants to help other boxers to avoid the same abyss.?

Hatton has identified boxers, who are suffering depression, and is offering them some practical advice and help with great champions joining what has been described as ?this courageous initiative? , including the great former heavyweight champion, Lennox Lewis, who immediately agreed to be part of the committee.
The WBC stated that Ricky Hatton?s greatness ?is not confined to the ring!?
