Kazakhstan?s undefeated Gennady Golovkin retained his World Boxing Association middleweight title with an 11th round TKO over game British challenger Martin Murray in Monte Carlo early Sunday morning Manila Time.

The awesome punching power of the undefeated Golovkin proved too much for the 32 year old Murray who was dropped twice in the 4th round with vicious body shots but as BBC Sport reported ?showed bravery in taking the undefeated champion past eight round for the first time.?
The popular Kazakh also sent Murray crashing to the canvas in the 10th round before referee Luis Pabon had seen enough and called a halt with 50 seconds remaining in the eleventh round.

Golovkin who is also 32 improved his record to 29 knockouts from 32 professional fights with his knockout percentage in the highest of any world middleweight champion in history.

It was Murray?s third losing effort in his bid to win a world title. He was considered unlucky to draw with German?s Felix Sturm in 2011 and was narrowly beaten on points by Argentina?s Sergio ?Maravilla? Martinez in 2013 while it was Golovkin?s 19th straight knockout victory.
