Filipino Adones Aguelo who had lost 10 fights as against 23 wins with 15 knockouts and 2 draws, was no match for undefeated Mexican puncher Adrian ?Diamante? Estrella who won by a TKO in what the World Boxing Council described as ?ten one?sided rounds? although it granted that Aguelo was tough.

The WBC International champion who had won 19 of his 21 fights by KO and according to the WBC ?is still developing into a more rounded and complete fighter was appreciably more mobile? and used an accurate jab to establish some powerful combinations and uppercuts.?

The WBC website said although Aguelo had suffered ten defeats prior to the Estrella fight he was regarded as ?dangerous? which forced Estrella to treat carefully in the early rounds as the shorter Aguelo ?wasn?t intimidated, was prepared to go forward and did land some right hands to the head.?

Although the Filipino survived a torrid ninth round, Estrella unleashed what the WBC said was a ?massive, sustained and unanswered barrage? with a left hook to the liver serving as the beginning of the end for Aguelo.

Estrella landed an uppercut, then a big right hand and followed by a vicious punch to the right side of the ribcage which overwhelmed the brave Aguelo who, the WBC said was ?visibly wincing with eye-watering discomfort some minutes after the referee saved him.

The WBC website noted that Estrella ?looked purposeful and in marvelous shape and again stressed his interest in fighting WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura. In this fight he (Estrella) displayed digging power, patience, much better ring craft and the determination to overcome a very tough rival.?
