CHICAGO -- The San Antonio Spurs finished the first leg of their annual rodeo road trip on a high note, beating the Detroit Pistons, 104-87, on Wednesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan.

It was the Spurs' second win in three straight road games. They have six more consecutive away games when the 2014-15 NBA season resumes after the upcoming All-Star weekend.

But going 2 of 3 and a 34-19 record that is good for seventh place in the Western Conference works just fine for ace point guard Tony Parker.

"Great way to finish. We wanted to do three for three, but couldn't hit a shot against Toronto. We'll take two and enjoy the break and make sure when we get back," Parker told the Associated Press.

San Antonio held the Pistons to 12 first quarter points and then went on a 34-24 third quarter to hold a 82-62 in the final 12 minutes of play.

Danny Green drilled five 3s to lead the Spurs with 19. Parker had 17 and six assists while Manu Ginobili added 13 off the bench. Tim Duncan played a scant 18 minutes and tallied eight points for the Spurs, who made 42 of 88 field goals (47.7 percent).

D.J. Augustin had a game-high 22 points for the Pistons and Kentavious=Caldewell-Pope pumped in 20, but the Pistons missed 48 of their 81 field goals.

"I don't usually give those guys a break after a loss, but we fought hard tonight. I thought we were just a step slow," Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy told the Associated Press after his team dropped to 21-33 and fell two games behind the 22-30 Miami Heat for the eighth and last playoffs berth in the Eastern Conference.
