THE PINOY?S PRIDE REMAINS INTACT AS THREE ALA FIGHTERS WHIP THEIR MEXICAN OPPONENTS

The Pinoy?s pride remained intact as three promising young ALA Gym fighters whipped their Mexican opponents before a fantastic crowd at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gym in Davao City Saturday night.
In a fight card titled ?Fists of Fury? telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN on its pre-eminent Channel 2 on Sunday morning, the widely watched TFC or The Filipino Channel ?live? and was also seen on Sky Cable pay-per-view, WBO International junior welterweight champion Jason ?El Nino? Pagara demolished hardened Mexican challenger Cesar ?El Dolar? Chavez to score a crushing 2nd round TKO when internationally respected referee Bruce McTavish called a halt to the massacre at 1:56 of the round.
Pagara who is ranked No. 4 in the world by the WBO ripped a right to the ribs of Chavez in the opening round followed by a glancing right to the head that dropped the Mexican who beat the count only to be sent to the canvas again with a flurry of punches to the ribs although the game Chavez survived the round but looked in dire straits.

Pagara went after Chavez with a vengeance and nailed him with a series of hooks to the body and caught the Mexican with a vicious right that sent him down on his knees after which he rolled over clutching his face and knocked his head on the canvas indicating that he may have broken his jaw as he grimaced in pain.
Although Pagara wants undefeated Jessie Vargas, the WBA champion with a record of 26-0 with 9 knockouts, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer is reluctant to rush the youngster who improved his record to 35-2 with 22 knockouts and plans to send him to the US ton train before figuring out on the next step in his promising career.
Servania (R) and Hernandez have heated words at the break.
WBO Intercontinental ?Fighter of the Year? in 2014, unbeaten super bantamweight Genesis ?Azukal? Servania spent most of the rounds in his clash with Juan Luis ?Black Pearl? Hernandez chasing the Mexican who refused to engage unlike most Mexican warriors.
Hernandez later claimed he hurt his right wrist in the second round which forced him to turn to survival mode although Servania took the fight to him in the championship rounds, cracked him with a series of hard rights and hurt him but couldn?t put him away.
All three judges, Edward Ligas 118-110, Salven Lagumbay 119-109 and Arnie Najera 117-111 scored the fight by a lopsided decision in favor of Servania although Atty. Ed Tolentino and this reporter felt it was closer than the scores indicated although Servania was the clear winner. The No.1 world rated Servania improved to 26-0 with 11 knockouts but is still some way off in his quest for a world title shot.
Villanueva (R) outboxes former world champion Pingo Miranda.
Super flyweight ?King? Arthur Villanueva faced the toughest fight of his career against former world flyweight champion Julio Cesar ?Pingi? Miranda who lost his title in a close fight against Brian Viloria in Honolulu and rose to the challenge with a sound demonstration of boxing skill and focus as he worked behind a stinging jab to keep Miranda at bay and to score points.
The wily veteran switched to a southpaw stance in the middle rounds but after being initially bothered, Villanueva quickly adapted to the switch and handled it with aplomb.
Miranda got desperate in the last couple of rounds and charged at Villanueva but the undefeated Filipino who was coming off two somewhat disappointing performances showed his ability to take Miranda?s best shots while catching him with excellent counter punches en route to an impressive unanimous ten round decision.
Two judges scored it 98-92 while the third judge scored it 99-91 all for Villanueva who improves to 27-0 with 14 knockouts.
