McTavish, Tapdasan refs in WBO title-fights

VETERAN referees Bruce McTavish and Danrex Tapdasan will be the referees in the two championship fights in the Pinoy Pride 29: Fist of Fury on Saturday night at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
McTavish will be handle the 12-round title-fight between World Boxing Organization (WBO) International junior welterweight champion Jason ?El Nino? Pagara (34 wins, 21 KO, 2 loss) and Mexican challenger Cesar ?El Dolar? Chavez (23 wins, 11 KO, 7 loss).

The three judges are Samson Libres of Bacolod, Tony Pesons and Edgar Olalo of Cebu.

Tapdasan, also a lawyer, will be the third man on the ring between WBO Intercontinental junior featherweight champion Genesis ?Azukal? Servania (25 wins, 11 KO) and challenger Juan Luis ?Perla Negra? Hernandez (17 wins, 9 KO, 3 loss, 1 draw) of Mexico.

The judges are Salven Lagumbay, Edward Ligas and Arnie Najera, all from Cebu City.

The two championship fights will be supervised by WBO representative Leon Panoncillo in coordination with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) headed by its chairman Ramon Guanzon.

?I always make it a point to watch an ALA Boxing which is the biggest boxing promoter in the country today,? said Guanzon at the presscon Thursday at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

McTavish was also the referee of the IBF Asia junior welterweight championship fight between undefeated Filipino boxer Adones Cabalquinto and Thailand?s Denkamon Pakdee Gym held Jan. 31 at the Almendras gym.

Cabalquinto won the vacant title by stopping the Thai boxer in 27 seconds of the third round. ? LITO DELOS REYES
