FORMER World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asian Pacific flyweight champion Drian Francisco will fight against former Philippine Boxing Federation super bantamweight king Jason ?Siaton Boy? Egera in the Tibay ng Pinoy 6 on January 31 at the Almendras gym.
The 32-year old Francisco, who is now being handled by Manny Pacquiao?s strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune, previously won by a convincing unanimous decision over John Mark Apolinario last November 8 at the Almendras gym.
Francisco, also a former Interim IBF Pan Pacific super bantamweight champion, suffered a cut above his left eye due to an accidental head butt but knocked down Apolinario once in the 5th and 7th round.
Francisco, who has 26 wins with 20 knockouts with two loses and on draw, stopped Mexican Manuel delos Reyes Herrera in the 3rd round last August 2 in California, USA after losing by a unanimous decision to Chris Avalos last July 12 in Texas, USA for the vacant WBO NABA super bantamweight title.
Egera, 30 (21 wins, 11 loses) is hungry for a win after losing his last three fights.
But that was after he won his previous four fights including against two Japanese boxers Tomoyoa Yamazaki (5th round TKO) and Ryoji Okahata (split decision).
Egera lost to NABF and WBO International featherweight champion Marvin Sonsona (8th round retirement), Rhay-Rhay Guanzon (3rd round KO) and PBF super flyweight king Melvin ?Top Gun? Gumban (unanimous decision).
The Francisco-Egera 10-rounder is one of the undercards of the Tibay ng Pinoy 6 co-presented by the MP Promotions and Jimenez Sports Promotion featuring two main events - two championship fights between the Philippines against Thailand.
