Mexico?s Pedro ?Jibran? Guevara is ready to face Japan?s Akira Yaegashi for the vacant World Boxing Council light flyweight title at the Metropolitan Gym in Tokyo on December 30 and has been training hard at the ultra high Otomi Ceremony Center where Mexican legend Erik ?El Terrible? Morales trained for his clashes with ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao.
The WBC reported that the 25 year old Guevara ?is near the Stairway to Heaven, preparing for a rarefied opportunity to fight on December 30 for the vacant WBC light flyweight championship.?
The WBC website said Guevara will remain his lofty State of Mexico camp until mid-December and ?then travels to Japan, determined to fulfill his dream of being WBC champion.?
Guevara won the vacant WBC Silver title with a twelve round split decision over Rauk Garcia on March 30, 2013 and is coming off a 6th round TKO of Alejandro Morales last September 20.
The only loss suffered by Guevara (23-1-1, 15 KO?s) was a twelve round split decision to the Philippines IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero on May 19, 2012.
Yaegashi, on the other hand, lost by a 9th round TKO to undefeated Roman Gonzalez in a WBC flyweight title bout last September 5 after being dropped in rounds 3 and 9.
The 31 year old Japanese who has a record of 20-4 with 10 knockouts won the WBC flyweight title with a twelve round unanimous decision over fellow Japanese Toshiyuki Igarashi on Aoril 8, 2013.
