NODA SUFFERS 3RD ROUND TKO IN THAILAND

Filipino light welterweight Jury Noda whose manager had warned that the fighter was hurt in his last fight when he lost by a second round TKO and was concerned about his safety, has fought undefeated Thai Saddam Kietyoungyuth and as expected lost by a third round TKO.
A report from Bangkok said that another Filipino Jack Asis also lost a twelve round decision to another undefeated Thai, Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo in a WBC Asian Boxing Council featherweight title fight. The 22 year old Chonlatarn improved to 19-0 with 9 knockouts while Asis dropped to 11-7-1 with 6 KO’s.
The manager of Noda is listed by boxrec.com as Australia’s Peter Maniatis who was named Australia’s “Promoter of the Year” in 2006. Maniatis informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today ten days before the fight that he was surprised to learn that Noda was fighting in Thailand when nobody had spoken to him.
Maniatis said he had arranged Noda’s previous fight against undefeated American Craig Bellamy (2-0) in Tokyo last January 13 in which Noda was hurt when the fight was stopped in the third round. Maniatis expressed his concern over Noda being matched against an undefeated Thai so soon after suffering a bad beating. His concern was relayed to GAB chairman Eric Buhain.
However, the GAB indicated it could not act since there was a contract signed for the fight before the ban imposed by Buhain on Filipinos fighting in Thailand came into effect and expenses had been incurred.
The ban was imposed when WBC Youth Champion Lito Sisonorio died after undergoing brain surgery following a fourth round knockout by former world champion Chatchai Sasakul. The GAB also pointed out that since Maniatis had no legal standing as manager of Noda because there was no boxer-manager contract filed with the GAB, the agency could not act officially.
