If Instagram were a boxing ring, fans would have already been witnessing a great fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Last week, Mayweather posted an Instagram video that made fun of Pacquiao's knockout against Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012.

Today, Pacquiao or the handler of his account, replied to Mayweather's taunt, in an Instagram posting of his own.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) champ uploaded a photo of an action shot of his recent fight with Chris Algieri with the following caption.

"Stop throwing punches on Instagram and let's get in the ring!"

He then use a hashtag - #TBE #TheBestExcuses - in reference to Mayweather's TBE acronym that means "The Best Ever. "

TBE is also the undefeated boxer's line of hats, shirts, outerwear and other accessories that he sells through his website.

Mayweather has long valued his undefeated record (47-0, 26 KOs) in the ring and proclaimed himself as the sport's greatest boxer in numerous occasions.

But he and Pacquiao's inability to reach an agreement to make the fight that everyone wanted to see, has cast a shadow on his record and claims.

Mayweather and Pacquiao share the three belts of the welterweight division. Mayweather has 2, the WBC and WBA belts while Pacquiao recently defended his WBO belt against Algieri last week.

Clearly, they are the two best, the 1 and 2 of that division, and fans have been asking for that fight since 2009.

Pacquiao's recent win, his being vocal about wanting that fight next, Mayweather's recent Instagram taunt and now an Instagram reply from Pacquiao is adding buzz to what will be boxing's biggest fight.

"Pinost niya, dapat lumaban na siya. Madali pala akong mapatulog. (He should step up and fight me since I am easy to knock out.) was Pacquiao's reaction last week in a report on ABS CBN.

Fans react to both of the fighter's postings as they commented pro and anti remarks on the fighter's Instagram accounts.

If this was a real fight, Mayweather won Round 1, Pacquiao had Round 2.

And their social media followers can't wait who'll throw the next punch.

Round 3 coming up.
