EVEN MARQUEZ WANTS THE PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT TO HAPPEN

Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez, who lost on points to Floyd Mayweather Jr in a lopsided contest but in his last fight against "Fighter of the Decade" Manny Pacquiao scored a crushing 6th round knockout, has joined the growing clamor for a Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown next year.

In an interview with ESPN Deportes reported by Boxing Scene, Marquez said "as a fan I think the fight should get done and they need to stop the bickering over who wants to earn more than the other."

Marquez s aid "the most important thing is that the fight is carried out and that both of them stop talking about nonsense and give the fans what they want - the fight."

He said the "first thing is they need to make this fight to make clear who is who."

However, in a report by Miguel Rivera, Marquez said he picks Mayweather to win over Pacquiao. While he noted that Mayweather "is not a puncher, he is an artist in the ring. He is the best in terms of defense and he is very quick with counter-punches and that hurts Pacquiao."

Marquez stressed that Mayweather "handles timing very well and it is an important factor and a very harmful weapon against Pacquiao" even as he added that Mayweather, the current undefeated pound for pound king "won't win by knockout but on points."

However, Pacquiao's celebrated trainer Freddie Roach has said Pacquiao will knock out Mayweather and claimed that Mayweather had slowed down and "his legs are gone."

Meantime, there's been no word from Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who has been working with CBS/Showtime president Les Moonves to try and make the fight happen sometime in May or June next year.
