Rocky star Sylvester Stallone praised Algieri for his Rocky-like win when he was down twice in the first round, suffered a badly swollen right eye, but outboxed Ruslan Provodnikov in the next 11 rounds for a split decision win.

?It was Rocky-esque. As for his fight against Manny Pacquiao on November 22, all I can say to you Chris is great movies deserve great sequels and I won?t be the least surprised to see you give us one in Macau,? said the 68-year-old Hollywood legend who portrayed the role of Rocky Balboa in the Rocky series from 1976 to 2006.

In a kickboxing world title fight Algieri's biggest purse was only $3,000.

?I?m going to set a wicked pace,? he said when asked what he will do against Pacquiao. ?I?m going to box smartly. I going to put pressure and be in his face all night along and I?m going to dominate down the stretch.?
