
PINOY PRIDE 28: Indon stops Sabillo in 4th round

CEBU CITY -- Indonesian Faris Nenggo scored an upset over heavy-favorite and former WBO world minimumweight champion Merlito "Tiger" Sabillo via a 4th round technical knockout win in their 8-rounder bout in the Pinoy Pride 28: History in the Making at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
Sabillo suffered a deep cut on his right eye in the 4th round forcing ring physician Rene Bonsubre to stop the fight to avoid further damage.
Sabillo also earlier lost his title to Francisco Rodriguez of Mexico, who also saw action in the Pinoy Pride 28 undercard.
Rodriguez, however, settled to a split draw with upcoming Filipino fighter Jomar "Wallopman" Fajardo for 10 rounds in their 10-round non-title bout.
Sabillo suffered his only second loss against 23 wins with 12 knockouts and one draw while Nenggco posted his 9th win with 3 KOs agaisnt 6 loses and 3 draws.
Meanwhile, AJ "Bazooka" Banal also of ALA Gym won by a unanimous decision against Maxsaisai Sithsaithong of Thailand after Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo stopped Moon-Sun Jung of South Korea in 1:56 of the second round by a TKO. - LITO DELOS REYES
