Adones Aguelo, now bringing the surname of his manager Naris Singwangcha, will defend his Asian Boxing Federation lightweight title against Elly Ray of Indonesia Tuesday at the Maasin City Gym. Both boxers made the weight limit with hometown hero Aguelo tipping the scales at 134 3/4 lbs. While Ray was at first one pound overweight before shedding off the extra pound.

Ray promised to put up a good fight and aimed to stop Aguelo in the fourth round. Aguelo Singwangcha on the other hand pledged not to frustrate his kababayans. The Indonesian was accompanied by his manager Rosa Kusuma who also acted as his interpreter during the press conference at the City Bus Terminal.

Aguelo was attended by his Thai manager, trainers Joe Clough and Brix Flores and matchmaker Manuel Flores. The ABF was represented by supervisor Panya Prachakorn from Thailand and the Games and Amusements Board by Rolando Mendoza.

The undercard bouts will feature Canoy Singwangcha of General Santos going against Lester John Prongco of Bukidnon; Marvin Tampus of Bato, Leyte fighting Jhoas Aparecio of Bukidnon; Renoel Pael of Matalom, Leyte facing Arnel Tadena of Bohol; Michael Kaibigan of Maasin City squaring off with Marlon Talili of Bohol; and Elias Juaquino of Siargao versus Melchor Abcede of Bohol.

The boxing card is sponsored by the city government thru the Maasin City Sports Council.
