Australia?s Michael Zerafa has lost in a hard fought battle for the WBO World Youth Middlweight title against Russian Arif Megomedov who also claimed the WBO Asia Pacific title in Moscow.

Zerafa? s promoter, well known Australian Peter Maniatis told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports he was seated next to referee Kenny Bayless and he scored it close to a draw but added ?we lost a close points decision.?

Maniatis praised the Russian promoter for his excellent treatment of Zerafa?s team but said he ?wants a rematch in Melbourne.?

It was the first defeat of Zerafa who dropped to 15-1 with 7 knockouts while Megomedov kept his unbeaten record which now stands at 13-0 with 8 knockouts.

Maniatis pointed out that the WBO had a Russian referee and three Russian judges but took nothing away from Megomedov.

Maniatis said ?the fight was fought in good spirit and also one day Arif Megomedov will be a beast. He can punch, boxes well and has a fantastic team.
