Former International Boxing Federation light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero will fight Mexico's Armando "Cobra" Santos in a title eliminator for a crack at the IBF flyweight title which is currently held by Thailand's Amnat Ruenroeng.
Promoter Sammy Gello-ani told the Manila Standard that Casimero who is ranked No. 3 will face Santos who is No. 4 on December 13 in Mexico with the winner earning a title shot.
Casimero lost his light flyweight title on the scales when he failed to make weight in his title defense against Mauricio Fuentes whom he eventually knocked out in the very first round last May 3 after which he decided to move up to flyweight.
Casimero was to begin training today (Thursday) at the Quezon City Gym of Dr. Rajan Yraola under veteran trainer Jun Agrabio.
The 24 year old Casimero has a record of 20-2 with 12 knockouts while Santos who is 26, sports a record of 14-3-1 with 8 knockouts and is coming off a twelve round majority decision win over Romania's Silvio Olteanu to win the IBF International Flyweight title.
