Drian Francisco?s plans of fighting next month in Davao City may hit a snag because of possible legal issues that his estranged promotional company might file.
Saved by the Bell (SBB) Promotions maintains that the hard punching Francisco has an exclusive promotional and managerial contract with their company and that he cannot fight outside of their company without their formal consent.
?Drian is contracted with SBB, both a promotional and managerial contract until October of 2016,? SBB Promotions head Elmer Anuran told Philboxing.com
Anuran states that Francisco?s contract with SBB Promotions is valid and that the company is planning to file a complaint and if needed, file a case in court against any promotional company or persons that will put Francisco in their card without permission from SBB Promotions.
Francisco according to a report from Rappler.com, is fighting fellow Filipino boxer John Mark Apolinario in a November 8th card in Davao City that is to be promoted by Manny Pacquiao?s MP Promotions, This is the boxer?s return to bantamweight (118 pounds) after a mini run at the Junior Featherweight (122 pounds) division.
Anuran insisted that SBB will file a case against the promoter or promoters of the November 8 card, if they do not honor his company?s exclusive contract with Francisco.
?SBB aims to show that they have to respect the contract of local managers with their fighters,? stated Anuran.
?Putulin na natin iyong sistema na matapos paghirapan ng mga local managers, susulutin lang basta, basta and for the fighters that they have to learn where they came from,? he added.
(?Let us stop the system of stealing fighters from local managers who worked hard to develop their fighters and for the fighters that they have to learn where they came from.?)
?We would like to warn (the) promoter in charge to be careful on this issue if they don?t want to get involve on a possible legal battle,? cautions Anuran who has consulted with the company?s lawyer and is planning to address this with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) this week.
Francisco severed his ties with SBB last year and fought Chris Avalos in the United States in a Top Rank Boxing and ESPN card on July 12, 2013. Top Rank Boxing reached out to SBB through its legal counsel, Daniel Pacheri after the company was informed of Francisco?s existing contract in the Philippines.
SBB then agreed to a one-fight-deal for Francisco after discussions with Top Rank which allowed the boxer to fight Avalos. Francisco lost by UD in a 10 round Junior featherweight contest with Avalos in a bout that took place at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas Nevada.
The SBB head also informed Philboxing.com that he has spoken to other local managers and that they have expressed their support to his company?s stance regarding this matter.
?This is also for the sake of other small Filipino managers and promoters,? stressed Anuran.
