Lumacad.

FORMER outstanding amateur boxer - Ryan Lumacad makes his ring comeback as an undefeated pro fighter on Saturday night in the undercard of the Boxing Revolution II: Clash of Little Titans at the Almendras gym.

"Sayang kasi yung record ko kaya bumalik ako sa boxing," Lumacad said Tuesday at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Lumacad, a former member of the Panabo City Boxing Team became a pro boxer with a clean record of six straight wins with 2 knockouts and no loss or draw.

Lumacad scored a second round knockout against Joseph Deimos in his pro debut on Feb. 26, 2011 at the Lagao gym in General Santos City.

The native of GenSan continued his winning ways with victories over Joey Bactul (unanimous decision), Jhon Leo Galleposo (3rd KO), Rowel Garcia (UD) and Jay-R Calunsad (majority decision) in 2011.

But after stopping Randy Gomez in the second round on January 4, 2012 at the Bula Gym in Gensan, Lumacad surprisingly retired to work as a boxing instructor at the Holiday Gym in Davao.

"Naghanap kasi ako ng stable na trabaho," said Lumacad.

But this year Lumacad had decided to once again climb back to the ring with his new manager - Sonshine Sports Management Inc.
Lumacad's fellow teammate in Panabo Jaime Quitoriano is now also fighting under the SSMI Stable and will face Melchor Abcede of Cebu in a 6-round, 136 lbs. bout on Saturday.

Unlike Lumacad who went home to Gensan, Quitoriano decided to start his pro career in Thailand.

But in his pro debut, Quitoriano lost by a unanimous decision to Norasing Kokietgym in their 12-round title fight for the PABA super flyweight championship match held at Sanambin Market Park in Nonthaburi, Thailand on Sept. 11, 2013.

Quitoriano again suffered a setback by points from the hands of Pigmy Kokietgym last Nov. 22 at the Minburi Market in Bangkok, Thailand.

Finally in his third assignment, Quitoriano won via a first round knockout against Wang Hong Zhao at the Chaleena Hotel in Bangkok last Dec. 23.

"Ayoko ko nang bumalik sa Thailand. Dito na lang ako sa Davao," said Quitoriano at the SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel Tuesday

Quitoriano is now trained by coaches Dante Lerio and Rex Penalosa, who are also being guided by 8-time world division champion Manny Pacquiao's assistant trainer Nonoy Neri at the MP Boxin Gym in Toril.

"We are using the Pacman's high-tech training program from coach Nonoy Neri," Lerio said.

Lumacad and Quitoriano, who are both former teammates also of Incheon Asian Games silver medalist Charly Suarez, are expected to show back their old fiery form.

"Nag-improved talaga ang mga bata dahil sa bagong boxing program na itinuro sa amin ni coach Nonoy," Lerio said.

Neri is now already in Gensan for the training and preparation of Pacquiao's upcoming fight against undefeated WBO light welterweight champion Chris Algieri on November 22 in Macau. - LITO DELOS REYES
