Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao seemed unperturbed by news yesterday of his congressional opponent's plan to call a ban of his April 14 fight, and went on with business at the Wild Card Gym yesterday hitting the mitts and doing his routine.

Pacquiao did five rounds of shadow boxing, even sharing the boxing ring with American actor Mario Lopez and did some stretching before hitting the mitts for twelve rounds with trainer Justine Fortune. In between rounds, Fortune would demonstrate instruction plays on Pacquiao.

After hitting the mitts, Pacquiao did two rounds against the light bag, 10 mins on the speedball, 12 mins jumping rope, and 5 rds shadow boxing, then ended the session with a series of abdominal exercises for two-and-a-half hours of extensive workout.

"Ang lakas ni manny at ang tulin. Pero ang nakita ko sa kanya na nag improve maige is confidence sa sarili. He thinks he can beat everybody. Yan ang assessment ko since dumating sya sa LA," said a source in a long-distance interview, the same observation shared by trainers Justin, Boboy Fernandez, Nonoy Neri, Maca Foley, Team Pacquiao therapist Jeff De Guzman and fighter Diosdado Gabi, Rob Peters (chief security), Archie Banas, Vernie Torres, and visiting couple Madiwa Dawis and wife Sunshine,

After the workout, Pacquiao proceeded to his favorite Thai restaurant for a late-lunch consisting of shrimp fried rice, sword fish cooked in soy sauce, salmon, friend chicken, chicken soup and noodles.

Today, Pacquiao is set to spar fewer rounds after a series of 12-rounders he did in the last few days.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao let loose of some verbal jabs yesterday aimed at his political opponents on plans to ask the Comelec to ban the airing of his April 14 fight in the country.

Pacquiao reportedly asked his close pal Rey Constantino of Gen. Santos City.
