In their first sparring session since arrive in Los Angeles, Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista and Alex John 'Bazooka' Banal did not disappoint as they held their own against unbeaten featherweight prospect Alejandro Perez the other day.
"They sparred three rounds each against Perez, and I liked what I saw," said Filipino trainer Edito Villamor in a long-distance interview.
Villamor said that Filipina Johanna Javaluyas, who is the travel coordinator for Golden Boy Promotions, had informed him that they will be leaving next week for Puerto Rico to join the golden boy Oscar De la Hoya and trainer Freddie Roach in training.
"We were in San Pedro, California last Thursday to secure our medical requirements from Dr. Gluckman, and luckily, the boys passed all their medicals with flying colors," added Villamor.
When informed that De la Hoya was looking forward to running with his two young fighters in the morning, because Oscar said 'these young people motivate me even more,' Villamor said his boys are honored to be invited in Puerto Rico and ready to run fast with the golden boy.
