NBA - Noah named Defensive Player of the Year

CHICAGO -- Joakim Noah was named the 2013-14 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Monday afternoon in simple ceremonies at a hotel in suburban Lincolnshire.

The 29-year old Chicago Bulls center garnered 555 out of a possible 1,125 points and 100 out of a possible 125 first-place votes. He was selected by a pool of sportswriters and broadcasters from the United States and Canada.

Noah played in 80 regular season games and averaged 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per. This is his 7th season with the Bulls after Chicago picked him 9th overall in the 2007 NBA draft. Noah won two collegiate titles while playing for the University of Florida.

Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert placed second in the voting with 166 points and eight first-place votes while DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers was at third with 121 points and eight first-place votes. (Homer D. Sayson)
