Former Lumpinee Muay Thai Kick Boxing 2-Division Champion Saiyok Kokietgym (formerly know as Saiyok Pumpanmuang) of Phitsanulok, Thailand - now fighting as a pro boxer - overpowered Chinese veteran Zeng Youjie to capture the vacant WBC Asia Silver Welterweight title on Friday (March 14) at Wat Khaolang Pattana in Lopburi, Kingdom of Thailand.
Saiyok's win came when Zeng's cornerman Mr. Win Panyaparichot threw the towel during the action of round 5 to spare Zeng of more punishment. Zeng protested, but it was a good call as the brave Chinese had already taken enough blows (watch video and decide by yourself).
Overall, the 30-year-old Saiyok looked impressive in his second fight as a pro boxer taking apart the smaller 37-year-old Zeng, who had no skills nor strength to counter the sharp relentless attacks thrown at him by the more accomplished Saiyok, who in 15 years as Muay Thai warrior amassed a record of 221-40-1, 32 KO's.
FORMER CHAMP PAIPHAROB WINS
In the co-main event, undefeated former WBA Interim Minimumweight champion Paipharob Kokietgym (23-0, 18 KO's) knocked out unheralded Indonesian boxer Johan Wahyudi (9-28, 5 KO's) to continue a successful return to the square ring.
Paipharob's victory is his second after coming back to active boxing following his arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking in January of 2012. The Thai former champ born in Chaiyaphum was stripped of his WBA interim title in May of 2012.
The afternoon fight card in Lopburi, Thailand, was a production of Mr. Kokiet Panichyarom, director of Kokiet Group Promotions, aired live throughout the Kingdom on open TV by Thailand's CH7.
