SEA Games medalists honored in PSC Anniversary

The Philippine Sports Commission pays tribute to the 101who brought home medals in the recent Southeast Asian Games when it celebrates its 24th Anniversary this coming Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

To be honored, according to Dr. Larry Domingo, PSC acting deputy executive director and the man in-charge of the celebration, are the 29 gold medallists, 34 silver medallists and 38 bronze medal winners in the 27th edition of the biennial meet held December last year in Myanmar.

PSC chair Ritchie Garcia and members of the board of commissioners will preside over the awards ceremony, announced Dr. Domingo during last Thursday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan on Air over DZAR. Recognition rites start following a thanksgiving mass at 4 p.m.

PSC officials who have been serving the agency for 24 years from the time it started operation in 1990 will also be honored by handing them loyalty award each made up of a gold watch and a token P5,000.

?The awards to our SEA Games medallist athletes are only token recognition by the PSC for their outstanding accomplishments in the international sporting arenas, As to our employes, for their unselfish services, not only to the PSC , but, likewise, to government service,? Heading the honorees are gold medallists Jesson Ramil Cid, Christopher Ulboc Jr., Eric Shawn Cray, Arsand Christian Bagsit, Henry Dagmil and the relay quartet of Bagsit, Edgardo Alejan Jr., Isidro del Prado Jr. and Julius Felicisimo Nierras Jr., all in athletics; taekwondo jins Kristie Elaine Alora, Kristopher Robert Uy, Jade Zafra, and the men?s poomsae team of Gabriel Marvin Vidal, Jacob Mella Dustin and Enrico Mella Rafael;

Boxers Josie Gabuco, Mark Anthony Barriga, and Mario Fernandez; wushu artists Daniel Parantac, Jessie Aligaga and Dembert Arcita; judokas Gilbert Ramirez and Kiyomi Watanabe; cyclists Daniel Patrick Caluag and Mark John Lexer Galido; cue artists Dennis Orcollo and Rubilen Amit; parbusters Princess Mary Superal and the women?s team of Superal, Claire Amelia Legaspi and Katrina Marie Briones; Rower Nestor Cordova, Muay fighter Preciosa Ocaya, Karateka Ramon Antonio Franco, men?s compound archery team Earl Benjamin Yap, Delfin Anthony Adirano and Ian Patrick Chipeco and the men?s basketball team made up of Kevin Louie Alas, Rex Mark Belo, Jericho Cruz, Marzcus Douthit, Kevin Ferrer, Mathew Ganuelas, Garvo Lanete, Bobby Ray Parks, Elvin Pascual, Ronald Pascual, Keifer Ravena and Shej Roi Sumang.

The country?s high-ranking sports officials, including Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose ?Peping? Cojuangco and members of the POC executive board and NSA heads have been invited to grace the occasion.

The PSC was created after the then President Corazon Aquino, mother of now Chief Executive Noynoy signed Rep. Act. 6847, authored by ex-Congressman. Victorivo ?Concoy? Chavez in the House of Representatives and Sen, Nene Pimentel in the Upper House in 1990.
