PACQUIAO vs. MAYWEATHER IN NEW YORK?

After Manny Pacquiao?s one sided victory over the young but overly matched Brandon Rios of Oxnard, CA at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China a few weeks ago, fans and media alike again opened the possibility of finally having the mega fight between P4P king Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the Filipino boxing icon.
Logically, I believe it is not going to happen regardless of what Bob Arum hinted in Macau or Stephen?s Espinosa lately saying that it may happen in New York.
Can the fight happen?
Sure it can. Anything is possible.
But will it? I don?t think so.
Here is why.
No. 1: Pacquiao and Mayweather fight under different TV providers. HBO for the former, and SHOWTIME for the latter. These two TV entities are the biggest sports PPV producers in the country. The guys running them don?t necessarily like each other so how can one expect them to work together? Without an agreement between the two nothing will happen. But this is not as big as:
No. 2: There is the inherent odium between the promoters of the two fighters. Pacquiao?s Bob Arum and Mayweather?s Schaefer are synonymous to oil and water. They don?t mix. But, for the right amount of the green stuff they may reach an agreement albeit grudgingly. After all, they are ?promoters? and they are only in for the money. Then, there is the biggest impediment of all.
No. 3: Floyd Mayweather Jr. The P4P king for some reason has an innate fear of losing his undefeated record. And there?s a huge probability that he thinks Pacquiao will be the one to beat him.. Mayweather have difficulties fighting southpaws who have both speed and power.
There is no definite assurance that he may lose to Pacquiao, but he can if his psyche is not properly in place.
Seeing Pacquiao standing in the opposite corner, I have a feeling his psyche will be in shambles and before he can rearrange it, his ?o? is gone.
Many pundits believe that Mayweather can easily beat Pacquiao, the Pacquiao of the Dela Hoya-Hatton-Cotto era or the Pacquiao post JM Marquez knockout, particularly the latter.
They say that in spite of the victory against Rios, Pacquiao is no longer the same. He has aged and suddenly became very careful. Gone is the spit-fire who runs through like a Mack truck against the likes of David Diaz and Tony Margarito.
But Mayweather had aged himself also and his feet are not as fast anymore.
That evens up the playing field.
Therein lay the problem.
Mayweather does not fight when the playing field is not to his advantage. The odds must be tilted towards him or he will find many reasons not to fight.
Worse, he will not fight even on a level playing field. With fans, the media and WBC trying to force the issue Mayweather is now again on a defensive mode.
To avoid a fight with Pacquiao he now says that the people may not be interested in the mega fight between him and Pacquiao anymore. He based that statement on the low Pacquiao-Rios PPV.
If he really was concerned about PPV why did he fight Ortiz and Guerrero who are nowhere even remotely closed to Pacquiao in PPV records?
Mayweather saying that the mega fight is no longer what people want is so far from the truth. In fact the reverse is true.
The truth is he is simply scared.
He may not be scared by Pacquiao, but certainly, he is afraid to lose. He knows Pacquiao more than anyone he has fought before has the capabilities of taking away his ?o?.
So in the end, what?s there to make Mayweather fight Pacquiao?
Nothing really.
