CHICAGO -- Hampered by bad knees that kept him out of the entire 2012-13 season, Andrew Bynum strutted the All-Star talent that had propelled him as one of the best big men in the NBA in recent years.
The 7-foot, 285 pound Bynum netted 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and the Cavaliers held off the Chicago Bulls late rally to pull a 97-93 victory Saturday night at the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
"This felt good. I'm not going to lie to you. It was actually good to jump and see that it wasn't too much bad on landing. But more than anything, this game was about getting out on the floor and getting my touch back," Bynum told NBA.com.
Bynum, who previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers before being shipped to the Philadelphia 76ers where he never played due to his knee issues, made 8-of-14 field goals in 30 minutes and 14 seconds of action.
Bynum got ample support from his teammates as well, with Kyrie Irving finishing with 19 points and six assists while Tristan Thompson added 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Luol Deng topscored for the Bulls with 27 points and 11 assists while rookie Tony Snell had a career-high 18 points and Taj Gibson added another 18.
After trailing 56-51 at the half and 77-66 entering the final period the Bulls rallied and inched to within 95-93 with still 19.9 seconds to go. But Chicago couldn't convert on four shots near the paint and the Cavs sealed the deal with a pair of free throws.
The victory snapped the Cavs' five-game losing streak and improved their record to 5-12. The Bulls dropped to 7-8. (Homer D. Sayson)
