TEAM EMMANUEL WINS PACQUIAO BASKETBALL TOURNEY

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? Team Emmanuel dethroned Team Kapitan with a 102-98 hard-earned victory in the finals of the Manny Pacquiao-Vice Gov. Jinkee Pacquiao inter-department basketball tournament Sunday here.

Aris Sacayanan scored all the Emmanuel side?s last six points in the final 52 seconds as the team made up of men under Pacquiao?s boxing group, shattered a 97-all deadlock forged going into the last 1 minute and 28 second mark.

Sakayana, once a practice player of the Adamson University Falcons in the 80s, was later named the tournament?s Most Valuable Player making it to the Mythical five alongside Kapitan skipper Bobby Pacquiao, younger brother of the eight-division champion, Satar Macalintal, also of Emmanuel, Bonmark Ponceras of the Vice Governor side and Dadoy Onding of Kapitan.

The sportsmandhip trophy was awarded to Loloy Pacquiao, also of Kapitan, whose roster included the Pacquiao patriarch Rosalio and youngest sibling, Barangay chair Rogelio.

Ironically, while Emmanuel was composed of players directly under Manny?s employ, it was he himself who called the shots. An overflow crowd, including Pacquiao?s matriarch Aleng Dionisia and members mostly of the Pacquiao and Jamora clans,witnessed the championship playoff held at the gym inside Pacquiao?s mansion 2.

Emmanuel?s victory served as a birthday gift of sort to team member Joe Ramos, who celebrated his 33rd natal on the same day. Vice Gov. Jinkee awarded the trophies and cash prizes to the top three finishers as well as winners of individual awards.
