
1ST SAN PEDRO CALUNGSOD RUN IN CEBU CITY

Some 2000 runners joined the 1st San Pedro Calungsod Run Sunday which started and finished at the San Pedro Calungsod Chapel at the South Road Properties in Cebu City. The fun run was organized in order to commemorate the first anniversary of the canonization of the second Filipino and first Cebuano saint.
In the 10K category, Sevillino Tutor and Michael Largo copped the titles for the women's and men's division respectively.
Tutor crossed the finish line with a time of 47:24. She was followed closely by Carla Cosep whom she bested by 30 seconds. Virgie Parajenog got third place in 48:18.
Largo topped the men's field by clocking 36:36. Placing second was Joey Owacan with 38:16. Clivan Alegres won third place in 39:44.
In the 5K category, Joel Delposo emerged first place in the men?s division in 17:31, 11 seconds ahead of second placer Judel Batarilan. Ronald Baoas got third place in 18:45. In the women's category, Kesha Mae Delechos was the champion in 23:31, Irish Delechos was second with 23:37 and Criselda Allanic came third in 24:19.
In the 3K category, Andog Mejares had a time of 10:41 to edge Aljun Veldosola who had 11:19 and Kharl Borinaga was third at 11:29 in the men's division, while Joy Postanes beat Anna Maximo with a 15:43 clocking.
Rev. Msgr. Vicente L. Tupas Jr. was elated by the huge participation of the running public who came to support the iconic Cebuano saint and at the same time provided wellness to their bodies. He was looking forward to more participants next year to support the church's fundraising for their educational programs.
People from all walks of life including nuns and clergy joined the family run rounding the scenic SRP.
