MANILA (PNA) --The search for fresh and young boxing talents from Luzon starts today when the Cobra Tunay na Lakas Boxing Tour offers a 36-round card at the Mandaluyong City Gymnasium.
Fighting in the lone 10-roun main event are Jimmy Aducal and Rene Bestodio, a pair of up-and-coming super-featherweight from the host city.
Jonel Alivio of Makati City and Argie Toquero of the MP Gym in Manila try to erase each other in the 8-round featherweight supporting event.
A six-round and three four-rounders round out the pilot card promoted by the Cebu-based ALA Boxing promotions and sponsored by Cobra Energy Drink.
Flyweights Jesame dela Cerna and Richard Claveras, also of Mandaluyong, take each other in the lone six-round encounter.
JC Francisco of Bangar in La Union faces Dexter Dimaculangan of San Pablo City in Laguna in the opening four-round showdown, while Robin Dingkong of the Tiger City Gym opposes Joel Lumangcar of Mandaluyong, also in a four-round bantamweight skirmish.
Another four-round curtain-raiser will see PhiLIp Luis Cuerdo of Mandaluyong testing Roderic Naduma of Valenzuela in a light-flyweight scrap.
The Luzon leg of the Cobra Tunay na Lakas Tour, which has been doing on for the past four years in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, according to Ala vice president Dennis Canete, will showcase the still untapped and untested fighters from the region who have the potentials abilities to excel in the sport of sweet science.
?The tour will be traveling all over the country?s largest region and will touch Laguna Province, Cavite all the way to North Luzon, including Baguio City,? Canete announced during yesteday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan session at the Kamayan Restaurant-Padre Faura.
