Docena, Fronda prevail

FILIPINO whiz kid Jerad Docena (ELO 2227) defeated Ozan Cingoz (ELO 1918) of Turkey while counterpart Jan Jodilyn Fronda (ELO 2038) beat Woman Fide Master Barbara Juhasz (ELO 2169) of Hungrary in the seventh round of the World Junior Chess Championships 2013 on Friday being held at The Ness Hotel in Kocaeli, Turkey.
The Tagubaas, Antequera Bohol native Docena raised his total 3.5 points, a good for a share of 53rd place in the Open category while San Andres, Manila bet Fronda accumulated 4.0 points, joints 18th place in the Girls division.
In the eight round, Docena will meet FM Samuel Franklin (ELO 2353) of England while Fronda opposite WIM Maria Bezgodova (ELO 2172) of Russia.
GM Yu Yangyi (ELO 2662) of China and WGM Irina Bulmaga (ELO 2387) of Romania, both leading in their respective divisions with 6.5 points and 6.0 points each, respectively.-Marlon Bernardino-
