Today is the most awaited encounter of Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez when they collide at the MGM Grand for the WBC and WBA Super and The Ring superwelterweight titles and the distinction as the world's number one pound-for-pound fighter.
Mayweather Is 44-0 with 26 KOs while Alvarez is 42-0-1 with 30 KOs.
Mayweather has no drawn fight, while Alvarez had a draw with Jorge Juarez in a four-round bout in 2006 in Mexico.
Mayweather fought 327 rounds with 59.09% KO rate. Alvarez boxed 277 rounds with 69.77% KO rate.
Mayweather is the WBA (Super) superwelterweight champion and the current WBC and The Ring welterweight champion. Alvarez is the WBC, WBA, and The Ring superwelterweight champion.
Mayweather was the IBF, IBO and IBA welterweight champion, WBC light welterweight champion, WBC and The Right lightweight champion, Lineal and WBC superfeatherweight champion, the WBC Emeritus light middleweight champion and the WBC Diamond light middleweight champion.
Alvarez was the Jalisco State, WBA Fedecentro, NABF, WBO Latino, and the WBC Youth welterweight champion, and the WBC Silver and The Ring light middleweight champion.
Mayweather is The Ring number one pound-for-pound fighter and had been on the list for 98 weeks, while Alvarez is rated number nine pound-for-pound by The Ring and was in the list for 14 weeks.
The official weights, Mayweather tipped in the scales at 150-1/2 lbs, while Alvarez weighed 152 lbs.
Mayweather is shorter at 5'8" while Alvarez stands at 5'9".
Mayweather has a reach of 72", while Alvarez has 70-1/2".
Mayweather is 36-years old, born on February 24, 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. Alvarez is 23-years old, born on July 18, 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Both boxers have the orthodox stance.
Mayweather's last fight was a unanimous decision win over Robert Guerrero while Alvarez last fought with previously unbeaten Austin Trout also winning unanimously.
Both boxers defeated Shane Mosley coincidentally by the same judges' scorecards, two 119-109 and one 118-110.
Alvarez knocked out Argentine Carlos Baldomir in the sixth round in 2010, while Mayweather won over Baldomir by unanimous decision in 2006.
Mayweather will earn a purse of $41.5 million plus pay-per-view shares, while Alvarez will receive $5 million which could raise to $12 million.
Money is Mayweather's monicker because he is the highest paid athlete in any sport today. Canelo is the Spanish for Alvarez's cinnamon-colored hair.
"The One" is expected to break pay-per-view records as it is already an all-time live gate grosser at $20 million.
