THE ONE: YOUTH VS. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Saturday will be the day when an undefeated fighter will emerge as "The One" who inflicts the other his first defeat. Unless the fight could end up in a draw. But boxing aficionados would place their bets on "The One" and only boxer who could dominate the battle which could be subtitled "Youth versus Skills."
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will face a heavier Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for the WBA Super, WBC and The Ring super welterweight (light middleweight) title. He won the WBA crown by out scoring Miguel Cotto. He always fought as a welterweight and this will be his only third fight in the heavier division.
?It?s not about the weight, it?s about the skills,? Mayweather was quoted by Miami Herald. ?The skills pay the bills. I can?t wait to get in there and compete and test my skills against young guy. I feel good. I?m still hungry.?
The fight has been considered as "The One" who can approximate or even break the existing pay-per-view records in numbers and in money. After all, it's a classic encounter of a box-office grosser against a matinee idol from a country where boxing champions are considered as "gods."
Canelo defeated the previously unbeaten Austin Trout last April 20 handing "No Doubt" his first defeat and the first knockdown of his career in the 7th round. "Even though I?m young, I have a lot of experience,? Alvarez said. ?That?s why I asked for this.?
He wanted to face another undefeated fighter and its no less than the number one boxer of the world. He is hoping that Mayweather will be "The One" who can bring out the best of him.
?I?ve always said that I?ve never fought to my potential, but that?s because I?ve never had an opponent to bring it out,? Alvarez said. ?I feel that maybe Mayweather will be the one to bring it out.?
The "Money" praised Canelo and now he is well-prepared to face the best fighter he could ever battle in his weight division. ?I know what it takes to be involved in a fight of this magnitude,? Mayweather said. ?Canelo is a solid competitor but it is what it is. I?ve faced the best in this sport."
Mayweather is confident that experience will prevail over youth during their encounter on September 14 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. He had always boasted of quality opponents and his 22 championship fights.
?He?s banking on his youth; I?m banking on my experience. I have a lot of experience in championship fights. Look at his r?sum?, look at my r?sum?, and see what you come up with," bragged the King of Boxing by The Ring.
