
NBA -- C.J. Watson agrees to deal with Pacers

CHICAGO -- Former Chicago Bull C.J. Watson is now an Indiana Pacer.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard verbally committed to join the Pacers for a two-year deal, reports HoopsWorld. Watson won't be able to formally sign the contract until July 10, when the NBA lifts the moratorium on free agents.
Watson, who averaged 6.8 points and two assists per in 80 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, is expected to replace D.J. Augustin as the main back-up for point guard George Hill. Prior to joining the Nets, Watson spent two years with the Chicago Bulls and three years with the Golden State Warriors. He opted out of his one-year $1.1 million contract left with the Nets.
The Pacers lost in seven games to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals. One of Indiana's pitfalls in that series was the drop-off of talent at point guard when Hill sits on the bench as Augustin had problems against Miami's pressure defense, averaging just 2.4 points and 0.6 assists while logging 14 minutes in a reserve role.
Watson's migration to Indiana leaves the Nets with only Tyshawn Taylor as the back-up for starting point guard Deron Williams. (Homer D. Sayson)
