Unbeaten young boxing sensation Alex John 'Bazooka' Banal of the ALA Stable has decided to forego his American trip to face dangerous Thai Terdkiat Jandaeng on January 20 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

"He will face Jandaeng on January 20 in Mandaue," informed top promoter Sammy Gello-ani yesterday in an interview. Gello-ani will also co-promote the March 4 'World Cup' along with Oscar De la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

Banal was slated to fly to the US on Sunday to start his training at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Boxing Club, but decided he needed one more win in his resume to pave the way for a stint at the 'World Cup' on March 4 in Cebu.

The southpaw Banal (10-0, 8 KO's) is expected to face a strong challenge against the one-time WBO Asia Pacific flyweight contender Jandaeng, who belongs to Thailand's biggest gym, the Kokiet Group.

Terdkiat (7-2-1, 2 KO's) is the younger brother of Terdsak Jandaeng, who battled WBO featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez recently in the United States.

Banal is being groomed to vie for the WBO Intercontinental superfly title at the 'World Cup' on March 4 possibly against Gerson Guerrero of Mexico, so he needs to come up with an impressive win over Jandaeng.
