This past week, the newly crowned WBO INTERNATIONAL FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPION Jose ?Negro? Ramirez of the border town of Mexicali, Mexico finally received his prestigious strap courtesy of the hard work of the honorable WBO Asia Pacific President Leon Panoncillo who did his best burning the lines to make sure Ramirez received his stunning belt.

Team Ramirez, accompanied by family and friends, waited 3 hours for the office to open on Monday morning as the belt was sitting in the local Post office all weekend. A group of Mariachis came to play as the doors opened at the Mexicali Post Office with media accompanying Team Ramirez.

The new champ fought in a tough battle against the pride of ALA Boxing, Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista and scored a split decision victory to wrest the title from Bautista in The Pinoy Pride 19 series that was held in the beautiful city of Davao.

Team Ramirez is ready to defend his title and the name of Philippines former World Champion Marvin Sonsona has been mentioned as an opponent for Ramirez on the undercard of IBF World Light Flyweight Champion John Riel Casimero. The southpaw from Mindanao would be a good matchup for Ramirez.

The current WBO world ranked #12 fighter, Ramirez has a cult following now in the Philippines after defeating Bautista and the matchup of Ramirez vs. Sonsona would draw record breaking crowds at the Araneta Coliseum to see the boy from Mexicali defend his title on Philippine soil.

Pinoy Pride 19 was a huge success as ALA Boxing Promotions once again brought in high quality fighters to go toe to toe with their boys. Pinoy Pride 20 took no backseat as it showed again what the fans really want to see when watching fights in the Philippines, tough action packed fights as Pagara vs Herrera and Jaca vs Perea showed gladiator fighting with so much heart and determination that the fans are screaming for more. Pinoy Pride 21 will only get bigger and better.

CONGRATS TO TEAM RAMIREZ!!!!
