MANILA (PNA) -- World Boxing Council youth silver bantamweight champion Richard Pumcipic engaged Indonesian challenger Junior Bajawa in an action-filled 10-round encounter to earn a unanimous decision victory and keep his 118-pound division belt Sunday at the Muntinlupa City Sports Complex.

The 23-year-old dominated each round with more telling blows in a toe-to-toe skirmish that had the Indonesian Boxing Commission bantamweight champion reeling to the ropes on several occasions.

The Filipino?s powerful attacks to the body from the middle rounds on sapped Bajawa?s energy. The Indonesian, sensing defeat, mounted a do-or-die thrust in the final two rounds to no avail as Pumicpic doused cold water on that last ditch effort with his own.

That improved Pumicpic?s record to 12 wins in 18 fights spiked by four knockouts as he, likewise, took a step towards lining himself at a crack at the lineal 118-pound title promised him by his promoter Anson Tiu Co of Shape Up Boxing Promotions.

Former WBC international featherweight titleholder Bernabe Concepcion showed he still has what it takes to recapture the old glory he once enjoyed in the world boxing arena with an eight- round technical knockout victory over Indonesian 126-pount titlist Boido ?Bulldozer? Simanjuntak in the co-main event also scheduled for 10 rounds.

Concepcion, once dubbed as heir apparent to countryman eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao pummeled the outclassed Simanjuntak with power shots right from the opening bell and had the Indonesian on the verge of going down ending the seventh round.

As the 24-year old Concepcion was about to finish off his rival as the bell sounded. The referee declared Simanjuntak unfit to continue due to the heavy punishment he received giving the Filipino the official eighth-round TKO win.

The win was Concepcion?s 32 win and his 19th stoppage triumph in 39 professional outings signaling his readiness to resume his fighting career that appeared on the way to making it to the top but was aborted with his spat with his former handlers.

Like, Pumicpic, Co, a young corporate entrepreneur whose family owns the Cooyeesan Hotel where the Shape Up Boxing Gym, considered as Pacquiao?s home in Baguio City, is located, said he will do everything within his means to guide Concepcion back to the road to world recognition.

?Titingnan natin kung papaano natsin mabibigyan ng pagkakataon itong dalawang boksingero natin lumaban sa kampeonato ng mundo,? Co said after his successful 76-round presentation in cooperation with boxing friends like Muntinlupa Citry Mayor Alvin San Pedro, A.S. Almario Promotions, Tobi Sports, Cherry Lume (Ang Yerong May Aluminum) Omico Corp. and GMA News.

?We really need to help our young fighters like Richard and Abe, especially at this time when our heroes like world champions Manny Pacquiao, Nonito Donaire Jr. Brian Viloria has suffered separate defeats that brought sadness among our boxing-loving people,? Co said.

?At sa tulong ng ating mga kaibigan sa boksing, magagawa natin yan.?
