Rex 'Wakee' Salud, the manager/promoter non-pareil from Cebu, will host the Cebu sojourn of the world's most popular boxing trainer Freddie Roach when the latter arrives at 6PM today at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Roach will arrive from General Santos City where he attended the birthday celebration of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.

Salud said that from the airport, Roach will go straight to the hotel, and then head to Cebu's best fine-dining restaurant, the Ching Palace, where he will meet the Cebu media.

Roach was supposed to arrive at 2PM, but opted to take a later flight. A throng of Paclanders was waiting for the bespectacled Roach at the Cebu airport for the 2PM arrival, but had to wait for a few more hours before they could meet the highly-respected trainer in the flesh.

Salud stressed that Roach was originally slated to fly immediately to Los Angeles following the General Santos visit, but was prevailed upon by the Cebuano kingmaker to drop by Cebu.

"He called me just a few minutes ago to say that he will be arriving in Cebu," Salud said.

Some of the Paclanders who braved the afternoon heat and even took absence from their jobs just to meet Roach complete with banners and placards at the airport were Ironwood_Cebu, Ramrod, Hansilmo, Yetboh, LlidoLyndon, LBD, Dragon79, and Flanker.
