Al Sabaupan makes weight in Mexico, faces former Gesta foe Saturday night

Filipino lightweight Al ?Captain A? Sabaupan made weight one day ahead of his scheduled ten round fight in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico tomorrow night (Sunday morning in the Philippines).

The Sipocot, Camarines Sur born boxer who now trains and resides in Agoncillo, Batangas will face Mexican, Ricardo Dominguez who is a veteran of 47 fights, (36-9-2, 22 KOs)as a co-main event of a Zanfer Promotions? promoted event which will be held at the Arena, Foro Tecate (Tecate Forum Arena) in Sinaloa.

Sabaupan, 24, weighed in at 137 lbs. while Dominguez, 27, tip the scales at 137.5 lbs.

This will be Sabaupan?s second trip to Mexico. He suffered the first defeat of his career when he fought Marvin Quintero in an IBF title eliminator last year in Morelia.

Meantime, Dominguez is 2-2 on his last four fights. One of those losses occurred in the hands of Filipino, Mercito Gesta more than a year ago in Las Vegas.

Sabaupan, (20-1-1, 15 KOs)who is a dead ringer for countryman and ring great, Manny Pacquiao spoke briefly to Philboxing.com after the weigh-in ceremonies yesterday and expressed his readiness for his upcoming fight.

?Handang handa po ako mentally at spiritually. Nagpapasalamat ako sa suporta ng pamilya ko at mga taong nagmamahal sa akin.

(I am mentally and spiritually ready. I am thankful of the support that I get from my family and loved ones.) Sabaupan told this writer.

?Para sa bansa natin,at sa tulong at awa ng Dios,ipapanalo ko po ang laban ko bukas.?

(For our country and with the help and mercy of God, I will win my fight tomorrow.)said Sabaupan.
