FRANCISCO DEFEATS GALICIA IN LIPA BOXING

Lloyd Francisco got back into the winning column with a masterful 4th round TKO win over fellow comeback fighter Roger Galicia in the main event of the ?Matira ang Matibay? (?The Tough One Remains?) held yesterday at Tangway Elementary School, Barangay Tangway, Lipa City which was presented by Promoter Jun Gandeza, owner of the Kambal na Kamao Boxing Stable.

Francisco, the younger brother of world title contender Drian Francisco, was hurting Galicia all throughout with wicked body shots and vicious uppercuts to the chin. Galicia tried to fight back but could not penetrate the airtight defense of Francisco and while he managed to connect a few, they where nowhere the quality that could hurt Francisco. The end came in the 4th round when another series of combinations unleashed by Francisco rendered Galicia helpless and Referee Ferdinand Estrella mercifully put a halt to the bout. The bout was scheduled for 8 rounds in the featherweight division.

Rounding off the results of the other bouts:

Another comebacking fighter in Rodynie Rafols emerged victorious when he scored a 1st round TKO over the clowning Vic Racuma in their super-featherweight bout scheduled for 6 rounds;

Val Facunaya defeated the visibly gassed-out Marco Niones via a 2nd round TKO in their 6-round featherweight bout;

Marbon Bodiongan was awarded a 4th round TKO victory over the tough and durable Arjet Caballes when Referee Benz Penafiel, upon the advice of the ring physician, declared the latter unfit to continue due to a cut above the boxer?s eyelid determined to be the result of a punch. Bodiongan earlier a knockdown after pummelling Caballes in that round. The fight was held at the superbantamweight limit and scheduled for 6 rounds; and

James de los Reyes scored a 1st round KO when a huge straight surprised the onrushing Fel Morales and knocking the latter down. Morales tried to get up but was too wobbly to do so and failed to beat the count The bout held at the flyweight division and scheduled for 4 rounds.
