MANILA (PNA) - How would you like to see the famous Filipino boxing tandem of Manny Pacquiao and Buboy Fernandez having seats in the next Congress?

If plans don?t miscarry, Pacquiao, the reigning world eight-division champion and his trainer and boyhood pal Fernandez could extend their ring partnership to the Halls of the Lower House where both want to be via separate routes.

Pacquiao, as everybody knows, is seeking re-election as Congressman of the lone district of Sarangani Province. Fernandez, his neighbor in General Santos City and associate for 16 years, is likewise, aiming for a Congressional seat via the sectoral representation.

Fernandez is the third nominee of the Sell-J Party List seeking recognition from the commission on Elections in the company sportsman-businessman friend Jay Lacnit and lawyer Alexander Acain.

The formation of the group was announced by Lacnit, president of Sell-J Sports Inc. on Friday?s SCOOP Sa Kamayan session at the Kamayan Restaurant-Padre Faura.

?Sports, as in the worlds of many, is in disarray that there seems to be one caring,? Lacnit, who also heads the Sell-J Pharma Corp., said during the session, sponsored by Powerade, AKTV and FILA. ?

?The problems facing sports in this country needs more than a change of leadership as many have been proposing,? he said. ?Sports needs people who really care na matagal nang wala.

Lacnit, who is in motorsports, said. ?But what many do not know is Buboy is also in taekwondo, swimming and several other sports. Marami na siyang natutunlungang mga atleta in these sports na lingid sa kaalaman ng marami dahil hindi naman niya ipinagyayabang ang ginagawa niya.?
?Well, me, you know already naman na I?m in motorsports. Lacnit told his audience. ?Para makatulong ng big-time at long-term, kinausap nga naming an gaming mga kasamang nagmamahal ng sports para magaka-isa sa iisang layunin.?

Fernandez, for his part, during a separate interview last weekend in General Santos City where Pacquiao is currently training for his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, said it?s about time that real sportsmen should join hands in helping sports.

Fernandez said. ?

Reason why, he added, the chose the slogan ?Sports Excellence for healthier Life?s Journey ? for the purpose.

Fernandez said, adding Pacquiao himself is supporting the movement.
