Undefeated Filipino star Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista landed in Los Angeles on a PAL flight yesterday, together with his trainer Edito Villamor, and was immediately whisked away by a waiting vehicle owned by Oscar De la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.

This is Bautista's first trip to the United States following two successive injuries that cancelled two important bouts in the US and in Manila.

Today, Bautista and Villamor are expected to report to the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California, where the Bohol-raised phenom hooks up with renowned trainer Freddie Roach, who is expected to roll down the red carpet for his prized student.

Although Roach is busy preparing superstar Manny Pacquiao, the bespectacled ring tactician is expected to find time to be at Bautista's corner when he faces Brazilian Giovanni Andrade on December 2 at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida.

Bautista's chief handler Antonio L. Aldeguer, in an interview yesterday at the famed ALA Gym in Cebu, had informed that his protege is raring to see action once again following his long absence from the ring.

Prior to his departure, Bautista had been working out at the ALA gym, and had even decked sparmate Leon Maratas with a wicked body shot during a public sparring session at Aldeguer's swanky Fight Club.

"I am healthy and ready to resume my training. I am praying I will be able to see action on December 2 as scheduled," Bautista said in an earlier interview prior to his American trip.
