MAASIN CITY, SOUTHERN LEYTE ? On the feast day of Maasin City on August 15, 2012, the city government through the Maasin City Sports Council invited amateur boxers from all over Eastern Visayas and those of Bohol. The Maasin City Fiesta Amateur Boxing 2012 was held at the City Integrated Market and Bus Terminal. It will be fought for two days, on August 15 and 16.

Jampacked with fiesta revellers and boxing aficionados, the boxing at the terminal was attended by Elias Recaido, 1994 Hiroshima Asian Games gold medalist and national women?s boxing team coach, and Joan Tipon, the 2006 Doha Asian Games gold medalist.

Both national coaches accompanied ABAP national boxers Edillo Abrea of Maasin City and Jerson Pagligian of Bacolod who will face each other on the second day of the tournament. The said national coaches will also conduct coaching clinics on August 17 and 18.
