Four-time heavyweight champion Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield says hopefully he can get a championship fight “if everything comes out right” in his November 10 showdown with Latino champion Fres Oquendo in Texas.

In an exclusive overseas telephone interview with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today Holyfield who celebrated his 44th birthday in Houston, Texas yesterday said he was ready to fight anyone among the four reigning world champions, Nikolai Valuev the giant Russian WBA champion, Wladimir Klitschko the IBF king, Oleg Maskaev who reigns as WBC champion and Sergei Liakovich the WBO champion.

Holyfield said he heard that Oquendo is “a counter-puncher who likes to move and is very crafty.” Holyfield said he would “put some pressure and force him to fight the fight that I would want him to fight.”

Holyfield said the brisk ticket sales for the Oquendo fight showed that fight fans “do believe in me and I am looking forward to not letting them down” and emphasized that he wanted to “determine my own destination” which is to become a five-time heavyweight champion of the world.

Holyfield said he has “a wonderful training camp with everything that is supposed to happen and we are just looking forward to the day of the fight.”

The Holyfield-Oquendo fight is being promoted by Murad Muhammad who Holyfield said had “explained everything that he brought to the table and so far there has been a lot of understanding in our relationship so far and I hope it will grow.”

Murad Muhammad who gave Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao a break by getting him a shot at the IBF junior featherweight title of Lelohonolo Ledwaba, steered him to a demolition of Marco Antonio Barrera and parted ways because of a bitter dispute after Pacquiao’s first battle with Erik Morales, has made what many consider a major comeback by teaming up with Holyfield.
