
2012 OLYMPICS: THE LIGHT-FLYWEIGHT BOXING CATEGORY

There are 26 boxers who will compete in the light-flyweight category in the 2012 London Olympics, the same weight division where the lone Filipino entry Mark Anthony Barriga will participate.
Ten of these boxers qualified during the 2011 AIBA World Championships:

Preliminary bouts for the men?s light-flyweight will be on July 31. The Round-of-16 will be August 4, the quarter-finals on August 8, the semi-finals on August 10 and the finals on August 11.
The best bet in the division is Zou Shiming who is the most successful amateur boxer from the People's Republic of China. He has won three amateur world titles in 2005, 2007 and 2011 and the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also won the bronze medal in the 2004 Athens Olympics. Barriga lost to him in the 2011 AIBA World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.
