TAGBILARAN CITY--WBO Asia-Pacific super-featherweight king Czar Amonsot landed here this morning on board a PAL flight from Manila, and was warmly welcomed by Boholanos who took pride in his clinical win yesterday over Mexico's Silverio Ortiz in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar Larios rumble.
Amonsot, accompanied by promoter Sammy 'Don King' Gello-ani, trainer Edito 'Ala' Villamor and Philboxing.com, touched down at the Tagbilaran City airport at around 9:25 AM, and was greeted by a large streamer welcoming the newly-minted boxing sensation.

Amonsot was also met at the airport by his manager Antonio L. Aldeguer, who did not make the trip to Manila to make sure his other ward Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista is being taken care of following his confinement at a Cebu hospital after a bout with flu.
From the airport, Amonsot and his team proceeded to Tagbilaran's city hall, where City Mayor Dan Neri Lim welcomed the returning hero with a big program as the city was celebrating its 40th Charter Day Anniversary.

With the theme 'Hunat' (Life Begins at Forty), Mayor Lim exhorted all his contituents to walk with him towards progress and cited the city's emerging sports icons as models for everyone to emulate.
Mayor Lim later handed out awards to both Amonsot and Bautista, as well as a special award to sportsman Antonio L. Aldeguer, for his pioneering efforts at developing young boxers in the city.
After lunch, Mayor Lim then held a meeting with both Aldeguer and promoter Sammy 'Don King' Gello-ani, as they discussed some important issues regarding the boxers' careers.
