While his more famous brother is wrapping up training for a big fight next month, Bobby Pacquiao will soon plunge into deep training as he challenges World Boxing Council featherweight interim king Humberto "Zorrita" Soto on August 12 at the Montbleu Resort Casino & Spa in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.
The younger Pacquiao, who holds the WBC Continental Americas super-featherweight title, will be moving down one notch in weight to challenge the vastly-talented Soto, who had previously beaten Rocky Juarez for the WBC title in 2005.
Juarez was the same fighter who gave Marco Antonio Barrera a scare, before losing on a disputed decision.
Nicknamed "The Sniper," Bobby Pacquiao (27-11-3, 12 KO's) is coming off an impressive fourth-round knockout over Kevin Kelley last June 10 in New York. Prior to that, he prevailed on a split decision over ex-world champ Carlos 'Famoso' Hernandez.
The younger Pacquiao is expected to be at ringside for the July 2 bout between his older brother Manny and Oscar Larios, but is expected to roll up his sleeves and start training right after.
Soto (39-5-2, 23 KO's) is on a 16-bout winning streak dating back to 2002, when he tasted his last defeat ironically against Kevin Kelley.
